Le retour de Lorraine

Nous sommes très heureux de vous informer du retour de Lorraine. Pour ceux qui ne la connaissent pas, Lorraine est une éducatrice Montessori anglophone, qui avait travaillé de nombreuses années dans une classe de maternelle, qui était partie vivre en Province depuis deux ans, et qui a décidé de revenir travailler chez nous à la rentrée de septembre prochain.

Elle était très aimée par tous les enfants, leurs parents, ses collèges et nous-mêmes et c'est une grande joie pour moi qu'elle est décidée de revenir.

Lorraine's return

We are very happy to tell you that Lorraine is back. For those of you who do not know her, Lorraine is a british Montessori teacher who has worked for many years in one of our kindergarten class. She left our region two years ago, and has now decided to come back to teach in our school in september 2009.

She is very appreciated by all the children, their parents, collegues and us. It is a great joy for us that she has chosen to come back.

MOYENS MATERIELS

* installation de 3 poubelles supplémentaires par casse (papier-emballages
recyclables-compost), avec la signalitique adaptée aux tranches d'âge
* installation d'un emplacement extérieur (proche salle de danse) avec grande
poubelle bleue, grande poubelle jaune, bac de compost, accessible aux enfants.


AU QUOTIDIEN

* chacun tri (élèves, enseignants, intervenants...)
* dans chaque classe, en fin de journée, une organisation permet de faire vider
les poubelles de tri par des responsables dans les grandes poubelles
exterieures
* l'agent d'entretien sort les grandes poubelles jaunes et bleues en fonction
des jours de ramassage de ces déchets.

TROIS INTERVENTIONS d'une demi heure par classe

1- Qu'est ce qu'un déchet ?
Différents déchets-différentes matières: carton, plastique, métal, papier,
verre, matière organique.
Les ordures ont la vie dure: la différence de temps de dégradation par les
éléments naturels (pluie, vent, soleil, animaux) d'une matière à l'autre
(ex: le papier 3 mois, le plastique: de 100 à 400 ans).

2- Le tri sous forme de jeu: plusieurs famille de déchets donc différentes
poubelles. Utilisation du code des couleurs. Présentation de la zone de récolte
extérieure.

3- A quoi cela sert-il de trier ? Ce que devienne les déchets qui sont recyclés.

This past term, the children have improved their English vocabulary:

-Winter: the nature in winter, feeding the birds; they have enjoyed snow in the playground.

-Science skills: the children have observed all stages of a plant growth. At the beginning of March they have planted a variety of seeds in small glasshouses: carrots, peas, tomatoes, peppers, turnips...flowers...they will plant those plants in the school garden.

Easter: an Easter eggs hunt with their own made Easter basket with a geometrical folding exercise (square, halves, quarters, edges, triangles)

Spring is back, therefore I suggest a summary of what we have been doing in the afternoon English class during second term (December, January, February, March).

Themes:

1. Around the Winter:
• The weather and how we perceive it: hot, cold, wind, rain, snow, sun, cloud, “today it’s cloudy”, “today it’s cold”… (Done every day at the beginning of the class)
• Christmas
• What can we see around us (la nature en hiver)
• Living in the mountain
• “How is snow made?”

2. My body, my emotions:
• “ I’m in a bad mood”, “I’m in a good mood” (happy, sad, afraid, angry…)

Here is a summary of what we have been doing in class for the past term.
THEMES
The continents: recognising and identifying the seven continents on the continents puzzle map. Naming the 7 continents without the map. Speaking about the weather, people and animals on each continent.
Winter: hibernating animals, snow, Christmas.
The human skeleton: how many bones in our body, what are bones made of, what to eat to make healthy bones, experiment in class on a chicken bone soaked in vinegar (which they all loved).
Float and sink: experiment using a large basin of water and objects that float and objects that sink, the children had to guess which might float and which might sink.
Colours: The rainbow (they all should be able to name the 7 colours of the rainbow - in English of course).

All of the above activities are aimed at learning new English vocabulary as well as gaining knowlege and stimulating interest.

Que d’émotions pour nos petits de la maternelle jeudi matin lorsqu’ils ont vu arriver le Père Noël et son lutin !
Il est venu leur rendre une visite, passer un petit moment avec les enfants, parler avec ceux qui le souhaitaient et leur distribuer des sacs de bonbons.

Puis, il est reparti distribuer des cadeaux aux autres enfants de la planète...

Notre traditionnel concert de Noël aura lieu le jeudi 18 décembre à l’Espace Coluche à Plaisir.
Il commencera à 17 h 30 par les enfants de maternelle et sera suivi par le concert des élèves plus âgés (primaire, collège et lycée).

The Christmas concert will be held on Thursday 18th of December at the "Espace Coluche" in Plaisir. It will begin at 17.30 with the children of the Nursery School and will continue from there with the Primary and Secondary school.

Les enfants des classes de maternelle seront attendus, en tenue de concert, par leur professeur du matin à l’Espace Coluche à 17 heures. On demande donc aux parents, si possible, de venir chercher leurs enfants à 12 h 30 (après le déjeuner) afin que les enfants puissent se reposer avant le spectacle. Il n’y aura pas de garderie ce jour-là. Nous vous rappelons que les élèves devront être vêtus d’un jean bleu foncé et d’une chemise ou chemisette (avec un col) blanche. Nous débuterons le spectacle par les classes de maternelle, puis, au cours de l’entracte, les parents qui le souhaitent pourront récupérer leurs enfants et quitter la salle ou rester bien sûr pour écouter la suite.
La deuxième partie du spectacle sera consacrée aux classes de primaire et de secondaire.

Teachers will be waiting for their nursery students, dressed and ready at 17.00 at the Espace Coluche. We would ask parents, if possible, to kindly pick up their children at 12.30 in order for them to have a rest before the show. There will be no daycare this day. All the children should wear dark jeans and a white shirt or blouse. The concert will begin with the nursery school students, then during the intermission, parents who wish to bring their children home will be able to do so, or stay for the rest of the concert.

Le prix du billet pour assister au spectacle a été fixé à 12 euros (afin d’aider l’école à financer la location de la salle et du matériel, ainsi que les professeurs de chants….). Si vous souhaitez vous procurer les billets avant le spectacle, veuillez donner le coupon et chèque/cash à Sylvie d’Esclaibes ou Dominique Béquin. Des billets seront aussi mis en vente à l’Espace Coluche le jour du spectacle.

Déroulement des ateliers

Le but et de former l’oreille des enfants et de les inciter à communiquer oralement dans cette langue. Je leur propose donc des activités qui favorisent la communication orale principalement et non l’écrit.

La plupart du temps, nous commençons tous en cercle:

• Accueil des enfants, le temps et la date.

• Introduction du thème et retour sur la séance précédente à travers une histoire, un objet, une chanson à gestes.

• Activité dirigée pour appliquer le vocabulaire relié au thème: dessin dirigé; peinture; collage;… et présentation de son travail devant ses petits camaradas (lorsque ça s’applique).

• Les enfants ayant des rythmes de travail qui peuvent varier, on se dit “adios” individuellement et ils quittent la classe quand ils ont fini ou après un retour général sur l’activité.

Je crois que je peux affirmer sans crainte que tous les enfants qui font de l’espagnol viennent aux ateliers avec grand plaisir. Ils sont souriants et curieux. Ils s’aventurent dans l’apprentissage de cette langue sans appréhension. Ils osent s’exprimer et apprennent très, très vite!
C’est un grand plaisir pour moi de leur préparer les ateliers et de passer ces moments privilégiés avec eux!

Des cours d’éducation à l’environnement seront prévus cette année à partir de la rentrée animés par Désirée. Elle interviendra trois heures pour chaque classe avec le programme suivant :
- Gestion de l’eau et de l’électricité à l’école et à la maison. Avec une intervention début octobre (pourquoi, comment) et une en décembre.
- Education à l’alimentation par les sens : 1 séance Kimgoût et 1 séance Kimtoucher avec des outils pédagogiques adaptés .
- Connaissance de la nature par le potager : 1 séance de semis en terre et 1 séance de semis en pots en janvier-février.
Tout cela a lieu bien sûr en collaboration avec les enseignants.

La kermesse annuelle de l’école aura lieu le samedi 7 juin de 11h00 à 16h00 à Bailly, bâtiment Victor Hugo. Ceci est notre plus grande collecte de fonds de l’année et l’école entière est impliquée dans ce jour synonyme d’amusement.

Ce jour sera un succès seulement si tous les parents, les étudiants et les enseignants nous prêtent leur soutien. Nous avons besoin de personnes pour aider à organiser cet événement, et pour participer le jour J.

Dear Parents,

Our annual kermesse (school fete) will take place this year on Saturday 7th June from 11 a.m till 4 p.m at the Batiment Victor Hugo
(primary/secondary building)

As usual we will be counting on your support to make this event another outstanding success.

There will be the usual attractions –games for the children, bouncy castle, sports competitions and plenty to eat and drink.

If you feel willing and are able to help organise this fun – filled event, please contact me as soon as possible. We need to start organising!

Matteo a fêté ses 4 ans avec sa classe du matin avec Karine et avec sa classe d'anglais avec Anne Véronique - Voici les photos

The children from Karine's and Linda's classes had fun picking Karine's very large salads and planting cherry tomatoes and flowers. The artichokes planted last spring are producing wonderful results.

Les enfants des classes de Karine et Linda se sont amusés en cueillant les très grandes salades de la classe de Karine et en plantant des fleurs et des tomates cerises.

Une sortie est organisée jeudi 12 juin à Sealife de Marne-la-Vallée, pour l'ensemble des classes de maternelle (sauf celle de Christelle). La sortie se fera en car. RDV sur le parking du Marché de Bailly à 8h30.
Our end of year outing will be held on the 12th of June at Sealife in Marne la Vallée. All classes (except the very young ones in Christelle's class) will participate. The children will be taken there by coach. Please be at the parking lot of Bailly market at 8.30 on that day.

The children were delighted to pick and help prepare the salads that they had planted and watched grow. Everyone tasted the salad, with a little nut oil and balsamic vinegar and all but two loved it!! A great success. Next will be the cabbage and that's another story...

Le jardinage a repris à l’école et les enfants de chaque classe ont planté des choux et de la salade dans la première semaine d’octobre.

The gardening season began again during the first week of October and the children of each class planted cabbage and salad.
